Depression: A distress signal from our soul?

SOS written in sand

What if your depression, your anxiety, your general not-okness, was not a sign that there’s something wrong with you, that you’re defective, bad or not good enough?

What if these things were a very natural reaction to the dangerous stories the world is enacting?

If a plant is not given water it dies.
If a human is not given connection, a sense of belonging, of mattering, we too wilt inside.

We are not separate from the world we inhabit
and maybe that was our most fundamental error-
to ever think that who and what we are is separate to the world, to the plants, the animals, to each other

We are each other.

And living in any other way puts a toxic stain on our souls.

So what if your depression, your anxiety is simply a huge distress signal, an SOS that you’re receiving- that it is not your solitary burden and it is not about you?
What if the collective souls of everything that lives is rising up trying to wake us up to the error of our ways?
What if rather than thinking I am depressed and anxious because there’s something wrong with me thinking I’m depressed and anxious because there’s something wrong with our collective delusion of separation and something is asking me to wake up to it?
What then my friend will you do?
