Into the Cave
This precious group of unravelling souls,
blindfolded we tentatively creep forward with outstretched hands, stumbling into the forgotten caves of our discarded selves,
of our stone child, our abandoned selves, our shame and our pain.
We’re terrified, yet we know this is the only way to go,
we’ve had enough of pretending we’re ok,
the covering it over, of playing the game that leaches the life from our cells and leaves us half dead.
So into the cave we go, one by one
and slowly we discover the courage of one of us fills all of us.
The voicing of the unnamed, the shamed, shines the light into all of our dark crevices,
where the dust and the dirt have piled up and we too are enabled by this courage.
We cry out words of encouragement, of love, of recognition-
go forth brave soul, go into the depths of your cave and find your treasure
for where you venture, you venture for us all.
Your darkness is mine and your courage lights the spark into mine.
To know that I am no longer alone,
to know that we all stumble into our caves and that your hands are there to catch me.
